Workshop at the Taiwanese American Conference-East Coast

We publicly introduced KITA in July 2024 at the Taiwanese American Conference-East Coast. We introduced KITA and our oral history project to a room of elders who lived through the struggles of the 1960s-1970s, as well as younger generations who are also learning about their roots.

At the conference, we interviewed a 91-year-old Taiwanese activist, Powen Wang, about his role in a direct action that made front-page news. He was one of the 11 activists who chained themselves to the gate of the United Nations headquarters while the United Nations General Assembly discussed the representation of “China.”
