Reflecting on the 78th Anniversary of the February 28 Massacre in Taiwan
To commemorate the February 28 Massacre of 1947 in Taiwan, KITA partnered with a number of groups in Pittsburgh to hold a documentary screening of <After Spring, The Tamaki Family…>. We invited friends in Pittsburgh to join us to watch the documentary, reflect on Taiwanese identity, share the significance of the February 28 Incident, promote transitional justice, and safeguard Taiwan's future.

This is exactly why we started KITA ⸺ to preserve history through storytelling and share it in a format that the public can access and reuse. Stories need to be heard to be remembered. The fact that MNews used our footage underscored the scarcity of such material and the dire need to preserve history in elders’ voices.

KITA isn’t just about an oral history project. We hope our project inspires more people to start reflecting on their roots and the future. This year’s experiments gave us food for thought and a foundation for expanding our events into bilingual ones, incorporating English next year!
